    New Build Coming
Posted by Chet Simpson on January 18, 2008, 09:41:00 PM
We have a new build coming and we are going to be posting a public preview release in the next few weeks. With the preview as well as the next several builds we are expecting to include the following updates:

    • Messenger 9.0 support with (POSSIBLE) enhancements specifically for 9.0
    • Changes to multi-messenger to better handle situations where this feature is disabled.
    • Emoticon images are now optionally displayed in all text entry windows. This includes chat, pm's, conferences, and custom messages (e.g. user ignored broadcasts).
    • Support for add-ins (filters and extensions made available through a scripting language).
    • Enhanced toolbars for chat, conference, and pm windows.
    • More color and formatting options for the enhanced user list.
    • New anti-boot mechanism (currently very experimental but extremely impressive).
    • Significant number of bug fixes
    • Several changes to Internet Calling filtering and privacy.

Not all of these features will make it in the next build but quite a few will including support for Messenger 9.0. I will be providing a more comprehensive list once our roadmap for the next 5 builds is finalized.

    Gremlins Strike Again
Posted by Chet Simpson on January 18, 2008, 09:31:35 PM
Due to a glitch in the automatic renewal of our domain name (ytunnelpro.com) our DNS configuration was reset to it's default settings. Unfortunately this caused access to our domain to be directed to one of Register.com's default servers. This has since been fixed and the correct DNS configuration has been restored. As the correct DNS configuration is propagated through the local domain name servers you should be able to access the forum and other sections of the website. We apologize for the inconvenience but this was unfortunately beyond our control.

Yahoo! Messenger File Transfer Exploit Discovered
Posted by Chet Simpson on September 20, 2007, 07:49:07 PM
A new exploit has recently been discovered in the Yahoo! Messenger File Transfer components that can allow websites to remotely download files onto a users computer without their knowledge. This exploit has been verified on several versions of Yahoo! Messenger and allows a website to arbitrarily download and possibly execute files on a users computer. This vulnerability affects users running Internet Explorer and other browsers supporting ActiveX technology. As of September 20th, 2007 Yahoo! Inc. has not released a security update to address this exploit. If you regularly use Internet Explorer or a browser supporting ActiveX (such as the Firefox ActiveX Plug-in) it is highly recommended that you disable ActiveX and scripting support in your browser until Yahoo! issues a security update.
